What Is Puppy Playschool?

An intrinsic canine learning program to boost your puppy's skills and long-term quality of life!

Raising a puppy takes a village, and you're not alone — let us give you both the support you need.

Our drop-off Puppy Playschool program in SE Montavilla, Portland offers puppies ages 8 weeks–5 months opportunities for dynamic socialization, enrichment, and training with our team of Certified Professional Dog Trainers. The program provides ample time and space for both indoor and outdoor socialization activities, and follows a rhythmic schedule that fosters intrinsic canine learning in a peaceful, nurturing setting — giving puppies the chance to develop and learn at their natural pace.

Each puppy gets regular potty breaks, sniffari strolls, playtime with well-matched puppies, and ongoing training throughout the day with three of our trainers. Group size is capped at six puppies.

Payment plans available — or start with a single session.

"We participated in Noble Woof's Puppy 101 and 102 classes, as well as their Puppy Playschool program. They have been a godsend in helping us learn to approach the challenges of puppyhood, as it truly takes a village. Im so grateful to them for their ongoing support and giving us the tools to help us succeed."

How It Works

Our goal is to shape optimism and confidence into your puppy, so they have a positive lens on life. We do this by meeting their core needs, capturing desirable behaviors, and facilitating healthy play with other pups. Exercise, structured skill-building, practice with separation, and mentally stimulating games ensure your puppy is wholly satisfied by the end of their stay.

Drop-off: Drop your puppy off at our facility at 9:00am.

Enjoy four hours of peace: Take care of your own needs, knowing our trainers are giving your puppy premium training and socialization.

Pick-up: Pick your puppy up at 1:00pm and enjoy a verbal recap of their progress, plus a written report card complete with photos and videos.

Training & Enrichment

This program prioritizes meeting your puppy's species-specific core needs through enrichment and training — a holistic, evidence-based approach intended to help your puppy learn to navigate modern living with ease, while honoring their unique personality and needs. Every puppy gets focused, one-on-one training time with our trainers to practice their unique goals.

Socialization & Play

We systematically expose your puppy to novel sounds, surfaces, handling, and husbandry procedures in a way that builds positive associations. Puppies also spend time playing with a well-matched classmate or group of classmates.

Nap Time

Providing ample time to rest and decompress after each activity is an important part of holistic, effective canine learning — we ensure all Playschoolers get enough quiet time to down-regulate from stimulating activities. Being able to settle is an incredibly important skill, and one that's transferable to other activities and environments, like working from home or sitting at a café or patio.

Why You Should Enroll

Want a well-adjusted dog?

Puppy Playschool is an investment in your dog's future. While genetics influence a dog's temperament, early experiences play a critical role in how those traits are expressed in adulthood.

Puppies need varied, safe, controlled socialization.

Quality socialization in controlled environments, with trainers who understand the neurobiology of play and how it affects your dog's future sociability, is as good as it gets. Studies have shown that early socialization and exposure to varied stimuli can help prevent fear memory generalization in dogs — but socialization is as much an art as it is a science.

Play can enhance a dog's cognitive function.

Our trainers develop effective play-based training and enrichment strategies to promote positive behavior and enhance well-being. Research suggests that play can improve a dog's cognitive function and their ability to learn and adapt to new environments.

Our commitment to welfare

Some puppies show us that this program's setup is too much for them to handle — even if they start off doing well, temperament and behavioral needs can change as puppies grow. Occasionally, puppies need to be pulled from this program before they reach 20 weeks of age, because they're showing signs that this training environment isn't conducive to healthy learning or socialization for them.

While we can't offer refunds, should this happen, we'll work with you to transfer your Playschool credits to another Noble Woof service better suited to your pup's needs — most commonly Private Training or our Group Classes.

Round Out Your Puppy's Education

This program is invaluable, but we don't consider it a one-stop shop for all of your puppy's needs — quite frankly, a one-stop shop doesn't exist. Your puppy needs variety! We strongly recommend also enrolling in at least one 45-minute Puppy Social a week, so they get experience with puppies beyond the Playschool group — our Noble Puppy Socials will also teach you how to carry out socialization on your own.

We also strongly recommend our Puppy 101 Skills Class. It's not enough for your puppy to learn with us — you need to learn alongside your puppy, too!
